Keyless Entry System

Keyless entry systems are an effective way to secure your rental property without the need for physical keys. These systems allow guests as well as tenants to access the property with a code, or their mobile phones. These systems can be paired with intercoms that allow video and audio communications. This gives people multiple options to enter a building. Some keyless entry systems are cloud-based and can be managed remotely and offer more advanced features.

You can install a keyless entry system in any type of property whether it is residential or commercial. First, the hardware has to be installed at each entryway. The system needs to be configured and managed via central consoles, or a smartphone app. According to Technavio the world's keyless entry market is expected to grow by a CAGR between 2016 and 2022 of 11.8%. The market's growth is attributed to the growing demand for security systems for commercial vehicles.

Many people are afraid of being locked out of their home and therefore keep spare keys in a safe location. This practice, however presents a serious security risk as criminals know where people hide their keys and are able to locate them. To avoid this occurring, it is recommended to have an entry system with a keyless lock installed at your residence. This will ensure that you aren't ever being locked out of your home.

Transponder Chip

The transponder chip - also known as "chip key" is an electronic micro-chip embedded in the head of your car key, it's also one of the most important security features of your vehicle. The term "transponder" is derived from the combination of the responder and transmitter and responder. This is because when the key is put into the ignition and turned on, the antenna ring on your car transmits a flash of radio frequency energy to the transponder chip. The chip responds by transmitting its unique identification code back to the antenna ring. The car's computer then analyzes this data and determines whether it is a valid or not.

The key must be a transponder one to start the car. If it is not, then the vehicle will remain in motion. The chip is protected by a polycarbonate layer that blocks it from being copied using mechanical keys that are used in regular use or copied with laser equipment. Beishir Lock and Security carries the largest selection of transponder keys at less than the price of dealerships selling cars.

Transponder chips first began to become popular in the 1980's after GM introduced them into the Corvette. This technology dramatically decreased vehicle thefts since it made hot-wiring a thing of the past. This is a very basic explanation of the chip key's function and should you have any concerns, feel free to contact us.

Immobiliser System

The engine immobiliser system (also called the anti-theft system) is an essential element of your vehicle's security. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or Smart Key fob, the transponder chip inside transmits an encoded code to the vehicle's Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU examines whether the code generated by the chip matches the one stored in it before it allows the engine to start.

This is the primary method that the immobiliser of your car stops theft. If the code in the chip isn't compatible it, the ECU blocks the flow of current to the fuel pump relay and the injection system, keeping the engine from starting. The immobiliser could also disable the starter motor or ignition coil to prevent the engine from getting started by force.

Unfortunately, the system is not impervious to hacks. The code to unlock the immobiliser on your car can be hacked by thieves and used to open it. The most recent versions of the system employ an extended cryptographic code that will make it difficult to guess.

Car immobilisers have been required since 1998, however many cars had basic immobiliser systems before that. It is also worth noting that even though an immobiliser makes it more difficult to steal a car, it doesn't prevent thieves from towing away or breaking into the car to steal your belongings.

Key Replacement

If you lose your remote or key fob is a hassle and very expensive. A locksmith would need to gain access to the car, decode or run the VIN and then reprogramme the new key to erase any signatures from the computer for all keys that were lost or stolen.

If your car is fitted with a security chip, also known as a transponder, in the key, this makes replacing it more expensive. The chips transmit an alert to your car in order to verify that you are the driver and allow the doors to be opened or the engine to be started. The typical price for an additional smart key is about $160.

ABUS recommends that you sign up your key code as soon as you can following purchase. This allows you to purchase spare keys or additional keys in the future.
